Review: Pigeon Baby Shampoo

Hi mommies. Today I am back with review of another baby product that i happened to buy for Ibrahim a while ago. Pigeon is a good name in baby products and its breast pumps are quite famous in Pakistan. I recently spotted its baby care range so i could not resist buying its shampoo.

The bottle is fairly simple and easy to handle. It is mentioned on the packaging that the shampoo contains natural ingredients such as chamomile and rosehip oil. It is gentle to baby skin and hypoallergenic.

Upon dispensing some product on my palm, It's a clear liquid with almost gel like consistancy. The fragrance is mild and pleasant.

What i loved about this product is that only a few drops were enough for m aking a good foamy lather in the hair. The application was smooth, rich and lathery. After my baby's hair were washed and dried, the hair felt really soft to feel and shiny. A light pleasant scent lingers in the hair immediately after the wash.

Pigeon baby shampoo is however not easily found in local shops. However, It is available at online stores such as daraz.pk

How to: Prevent nappy rash in babies

Hi all. Being a mommy has taught me many things and gave me too much worries to which I look for working solutions. Today I am going to talk about a fail proof method to prevent nappy rashes in babies.

1) Change the diaper every 4 hours. Regardless it is full or not. Diaper is a germ house. Air does not pass through it and its moist, making a perfect host for germs.
2) Apply a thin layer of petroleum jelly on the rash prone areas to keep them away from moist.
3) Change the diaper at-once when the baby poops. Dont let the baby sit in his/her poopy diaper.
4) Swap baby wipes with fresh washing and towel drying. The conventional wash and towel dry method effectively cleans the baby genitals and does not let rash happen. Baby wipes are excellent in emergency, but they do not clean and disinfect the skin as much as the wash-and-towel-dry method does.
5) If you must choose baby wipes, the non fragrant ones are a better option. Fragrances often have irritations causing chemicals not suitable for soft baby skin.

If the rash happens:

1) If rash happens. Apply some rash preventive ointment with every diaper change. Don't let the rash enhance. The sooner it's treated, the better.
2) You can also apply an oil and water mixture on the affected area. Mix one part mustard oil and one part water. Make a mixture and apply on the affected area with every diaper change.
3) Religiously change the diaper after every four hours if rash has occurred.
The above tips are my personal diaper care observations. If you have anyother tips, let me know in the comments below :)

How To: Do a perfect facial at home

Hi all,

Being a mom has made me so busy that I often do not get enough time for a salon visit. So it drove me to learn how to do a basic facial at home to keep my skin fresh and glowing. To do an effective facial at home, you will need the following products:

o Regular bleach cream
o Massage cream
o Facial scrub
o Mask cream
o Cleansing milk
o Toner

Step-by-Step Process:

1) We start off by prepping the skin for a facial by using cleansing milk. Apply a little cleansing milk on a cotton swab and rub on face and neck. This will wipe away any impurities, dust or oil present on the skin.

2) Apply your regular bleach for fifteen to twenty minutes, or as described by the manufacturer on the product package. Cleanse the face off the bleach thoroughly and let it rest for five minutes.

3) Now, take a little amount of massage cream in your palms. Mix the massage cream with a little water to get a smooth consistency and massage your face and neck. Massage increases circulation, leading to brighter, healthier skin. Use your forefinger and middle finger to massage your face in a gentle circular motion. During the process, push the skin upwards to prevent wrinkles. Massage softly for best results.

4) Use a facial scrub with fine granules to ease off any dead skin. The process is same as with the massane cream. Take a little product on your palm and massage your face and neck for some time. Rinse off.

5) Now put some peel off/rinse off mask by applying it evenly on your face. Let it dry for ten to fifteen minutes or untill it dries completely. If it is a peel off mask, it will make a film like cover on the face that is meant to be peeled off like a peel, in upward direction. A rinse off mask has to be washed away using water. The mask will add up the glow further and help tighten the skin.

6) Now using a cotton swab, apply toner to face and neck.

The simple, DIY facial is done. It keeps skin fresh and gives amazing results.

Review: Mustela Dermo-cleansing Soap-free cleansing gel Hair and Body Wash

Hi all :)

So recently, My baby Ibrahim ran out of his bath gel and luckily I was in Lahore as well for my thesis, I went on to get a new bath product that I had been eyeing for sometime. Having heard a lot of good things about Mustela products, I had to try it out for Ibrahim.
Mustela Dermo-cleansing Soap-free cleansing gel Hair and Body Wash

On their website, they have mentioned that this product "Cleanses and protects from birth on.
Protects the vital resources in baby's skin today and for tomorrow and Includes babies newly-discharged from neonatal care." and "Specially formulated for use right from day one,* Mustela Bébé Dermo-Cleansing gel is ideal for your baby’s daily hygiene:

  • Gently cleanses your baby's skin and hair thoroughly yet delicately.
  • Respects delicate skins and scalp with its soap-free formula.
  • Compensates for the harsh, drying effects of hard water with its emollient  agents. Leaves the skin soothed and hydrated.
  • Ultra-gentle formula does not sting the eyes.
  • Thanks to its new formula enriched with Avocado Perseose®, a patented ingredient of natural origin, Dermo- Cleansing reinforces the skin barrier and preserves the cellular resource."

Lets see how it has worked for me and Ibrahim.

Mustela Hair and Body Wash
Mustela Dermo-cleansing Soap-free cleansing gel Hair and Body Wash Bottle
The product comes in a sturdy bottle packaging having 500 ml of the product. It has a pump dispenser with an attached green plastic lock to avoid accidental spill and to avoid air contact. The pump itself turns and locks which is an added advantage (as I have lost that green plastic lock already). The gel inside is pearly white in color with a slight pleasant fragrance.

I used it to give a complete top-to-toe bath to my boy. Upon application to the skin it felt creamy and smooth. It made a rich lather to the skin and even in the hair, it made a good foamy lather just like a shampoo would. Washing it away was also easy and it did not leave any sticky creamy feeling to my baby's skin. However, this product would not make any bubbles in the bath, so if you or your baby likes a good foamy bubble bath, this product won't do it for you. Once opened, the product will last for six months before expiry.

What I love about this product is that it is eco-friendly and biodegradable. It has natural products and lightly cleanses the skin. My baby Ibrahim enjoyed the bath time very much.

Mustela Dermo-cleansing Soap-free cleansing gel Hair and Body Wash is priced at Rs 1275/- PKR and available at Babyshop outlets in Lahore. I bought it from the Babyshop outlet in Emporium Mall, Lahore.

Pros:
  • Natural product.
  • Soft on baby skin with a light fragrance
  • Sturdy, hygienic bottle
  • Can be used from baby's day one
Cons:
  • Some parents might find it pricier than the other products available in the market
  • Expires in six months
  • Available at Babyshop only

Gold Jewelry or Artificial Jewelry for Wedding...

It seems a million dollar question that, "What kind of jewelry should I opt for on my wedding? All gold, or some artificial jewelry set?"

Gold gives a very royal and finesse touch to the bride, making her look regal and special. At the same time, artificial jewelry gives a wide variety of design and color motives to choose from.
Gold can become very expensive when it comes to a heavy looking set. Artificial jewelry is less pricey on the pocket, though.
Gold is taken as an investment in most of the Indo-Pakistani families, Artificial loses its worth as soon as its bought.

Gold or Artificial, we leave it on you to decide. Do let us know on the comments section below what would you prefer for your wedding day!!
